School Motto: Delight in the present
The aim of the motto is to epitomise what John Scottus is all about, in a phrase.
Delight in the present does it; this is what the school is about.
The phrase itself comes from Marsilio Ficino, the neo-Platonist and master-mind of the Florentine Renaissance, who was born near Florence in 1433.

He founded an Academy in honour of Plato; the sentence containing ‘Delight in the Present’ was inscribed in the frieze in the main hall of the Academy.
