John Scottus has begun its first attempt at achieving a green flag for our Primary school. This is a 7 step process. Step 1 has been achieved by the establishment of 3 green school committees. The three green school committees, lower, middle and upper, have all had their first committee meetings with Mr Sheils and Ms Kelleher. The committees consist of representative students from Junior Infants up to 6th class, teachers and a parent. These committees will be the driving force of our school becoming a green school.
Our focus for our first green flag attempt is ‘Litter and Waste.’ Step 2 is under way – we are doing a litter and waste review. Where is there litter in our school? How can we avoid waste? Only when this is done can we put an action plan in place.
