Two members of the Defence Forces came to visit us on Wednesday the 2nd of December. Their duty was to deliver the Irish national flag as part of the nationwide centenary commemoration of the 1916 rising. The students were excellent and learned that the tricolour was originally designed in 1848 by a 19 year old man called Thomas Francis Meaghar. Finn Reddy from 6th class also accompanied them in reading part of the Proclamation. The event was rounded off with a rousing rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann.
