Secondary School May Sports Report

SportsDay

It has been an extremely successful and exciting month of sport for JSS.

JSS Irish Internationals

A special mention must be made to the following students; Tess Tangney and Kate Ryan who were selected for the Irish Under 20 Ultimate Frisbee team.  Additionally, Jack Bruton successfully made it onto the Irish Ten Pin Bowling team, which is a massive achievement considering only 8 players are chosen in that specific age group.

Sports Day: 1st May

In the build up to sports day ‘Active Schools Week’, encouraged students to become more active during their down time. Activities included, Sports Quiz, Healthy Breakfast, Basketball Hoop Challenge and the Herbert Park 5k Run.

Sports day took place on Friday May 1st. The day was a great success with many great examples of individual and team performance. A special mention must be made of Mr. Craig and Ms. Sweeney for the superb organisation and communication. For more details of the event please click here.

PE lessons:

The year finished off with some very competitive in house Rounders competitions and some very enjoyable lessons. Overall this year the level of participation and progress has been exceptional. On the whole JSS students enjoy a varied, well balanced and exciting PE curriculum, this is something we will continue to provide throughout next year.

We would like to thank the parents, students and staff of JSS for supporting and contributing to what has been a really successful sporting year.

Yours in Sport,

Mr Craig & Ms Sweeney
