On the 18th of January our Senior Girls Frisbee team traveled down to Cork to compete in the Murray Cup. An annual competition where the best of Munster comes together. For the 2nd year in a row John Scottus and Muckross Park College were also invited down.
The girls got off the a great start to the tournament getting comfortable wins over St. Angelas College and Colaiste Choilm Girls. The third game proved to be a tighter affair and unfortunately the JSS girls lost out by a single score to Skibereeen Community School. This meant the final game of the group stage against St. Mary’s Macroom would decide whether we qualified for the Semi Finals. After a difficult start the girls dug deep to win and qualify second from their group.
The Semi final saw us pitted against Muckross Park College, last years winners in what was a repeat of last years final. The girls started very brightly and at the halfway point found themselves leading by a score. Unfortunately as the game wore on the eventual winners began to dominate and in the end the Donnybrook school wound up 6-3 winners.
