Careers Evening a Success

John Scottus Annual Careers’ Evening took place on Tuesday September 30th from 5-7.30pm:

Ms. Maguire Timmins writes: This years careers’ evening was jam-packed with diverse career talks and all students from our senior cycle eagerly attended the event. Our guest speak Padraig Berry spoke on how to choose a Career and how to focus towards success. The careers that were represented were Physiotherapy, Computers, Engineering, Law, Accountancy, Special Effects and Art.
The students were very enthusiastic and engaged with all speakers.
As always the event was positively received and thanks to all guest speakers and staff who helped to make our Annual Careers’ Event a great success.

‘I’m very happy we had Career’s Evening because it provided a more personal insight into the possibilities for our career choices. We got to see talks given in six departments; sports and physiotherapy, visual effects and art, law, engineering, accounting and I.T. Each student attended the four talks they were most interested in and listened to a talk about life in that career. Not only did it give us a clearer picture to these jobs rather than a vague description, perhaps equally importantly we got an idea what careers we are NOT interested as well as ones we ARE interested in. I am greatly looking forward to next year’s Career’s Evening!’ – Fourth Year Student
